Kendal Town’s appeal against a move to the Northern League is to be heard this month.
It is due to take place on Wednesday, June 12.
The Parkside Road club were told, without any prior notice, that they were going to be moved from the North West Counties to the Northern League.
That could have dire consequences for the club, with regards to player recruitment and travel costs, and they were quick to express their dismay.
Under chairman Michael O’Neill and an energetic committee, the club’s fortunes have been turned round both on and off the field.
But for a remarkable end-of-season run by Charnock Richard, winning four games in a week, Kendal would have been involved in the play-offs.
They have a settled and committed management team in place, a close-knit squad and would be among the favourites to make progress next season back into the NPL West Division.
That progress would most likely suffer in a move away from their traditional roots to play in the North East.
