Workington do clubmates big favour in West Cumbria Fours League

Workington B did their A team clubmates a big favour in the West Cumbria Fours League.

For while leaders Workington A put up their feet without a fixture, the B team beat second-in-the-table Maryport 5-2.

It turned-out to be an even better night for Workington A when third-in-the-table Whitehaven A were beaten  5-2 by Fitz Park.

The other results on Friday were: Seaton 5, Vulcan Park 2; Cleator Moor 7, Whitehaven B 0.

The League is sponsored by Whitehaven Trophies and the latest standings are: (Games played and points) – Workington A 5-32, Maryport 6-25, Whitehaven A 6-24, Cleator Moor 5-18, Seaton 5-16, Fitz Park 4-15, Vulcan Park 5-14, Workington B 4-9, Whitehaven B 6-6.

In the West Cumbria Mixed Triples League on Tuesday saw Wigton take   advantage of the fact that the scheduled game between Workington and Whitehaven A was not played and they went to the top of the table with a 6-3 win at Harris Park A.

Other results from 28 May: Whitehaven B 6 Seaton 3, Seascale 2 Maryport 7, Croft 4 Cleator Moor 5, Vulcan Park 5 Harris Park B 4.

League standings: (Games played and points): Wigton 5-33, Workington 4-31, Whitehaven A 4-23, Croft 5-25, Seaton 5-22, Whitehaven B 3-20, Harris Park A 4-20, Cleator Moor 4-14, Maryport 5-14, Seascale 3-13, Vulcan Park 5-11, Harris Park B 3-6, Egremont 2-0.
