Workington Reds have launched their Budget Booster ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The Borough Park club will be hoping to go past the £20,000 the venture raised last year.
Having lost four wonderful servants during, and after, last season – Dan Wordsworth, Conor Tinnion, Scott Allison and Sam Smith – Reds realise this is the most important close season for years.
Indeed, Reds themselves say: “It’s probably the most critical close season in terms of recruitment in living memory. This is the opportunity for the fans to deliver the next set of Workington legends.”
The club has ambitions to return to the National North and are aiming for at least a place in next season’s play-offs in the NPL Premier Division.
To get there they will need to strengthen the squad considerably and proceeds from the Budget Booster will be given to new manager Mark Fell to suitably rejuvenate his team at Borough Park.
Fell said: “The Budget Booster is hugely important to the club to ensure we can remain competitive in the player market in a league where effectively some clubs are either full-time or have hybrid models.
“It’s tough to compete but this season we believe we have a real opportunity to challenge and this will be supported by this great scheme.
“I’ve already got targets in mind to ensure any money spent is in a way that can greatly benefit us on the pitch.”
Reds hope the fans will help to give Fell the chance to enhance the squad ahead of a second campaign in a hugely competitive league.
He will have the opportunity to bring in quality players to complement the cream of local talent already at the club.
