
Harraby Catholic Club have reached the third round of the County Veterans Cup – but it was a close run thing.
Carlisle City have been setting the pace in the East Division this season and after 90 minutes they were all square with the holders of the trophy.
It had to be settled on penalties and that went to sudden death with Harraby Catholics getting through 8-7.
There was another tight tie in the East section and Thistle Reivers eventually got through 3-2 at home to Milbourne Arms.
It was a bit more convincing for Silloth who were 9-1 winners at Unisun Athletic.
In the other East tie Penrith were 5-2 winners at AFC Carlisle.
One of the games in the West section went to penalties after Borough and Moor Row had finished all square at 1-1.
It was Moor Row who came out on top from the spot-kick showdown, winning 4-3.
Werst Division champions Cleator Moor Celtic had to work hard to beat St. Benedict’s 3-2 with goals from Gary George, Rob Fowler and Carl McGrady.
The other two ties were won emphatically as Cockermouth beat Flimby Social 8-1 and Seaton defeated Senhouse Street 7-1.
