Cockermouth Main Street set to become art exhibition

Cockermouth’s Main Street will be transformed into an art exhibition later this month.

Shops on the street in the West Cumbrian town will display work by 29 artists and makers from June 21 to July 12 as part of Cockermouth Meanders.

The event is affiliated with Cockermouth Live! – the town’s annual festival of music, fun and performance, sponsored by the Eden Valley Artistic Network.

A network spokesman said: “This visual art display is now a regular yearly event in Cockermouth, but for the first time in 2024 we are bringing together more of the EVAN artists from across north Cumbria.

“This widening of the event ensures it is now gaining a stronger identity – it forms a easily walkable trail for families, locals and visitors to take part in.

“If you visit during the Cockermouth Live! weekend from July 5 to July 7, you can enjoy a coffee while listening to live music happening in and around many venues and visiting art as you meander round the town.”

The Meanders event is organised by a small band of artists, Art People, affiliated with and sponsored by the EVAN group.

Art People include Helen Clues, Alison Marrs, Sarah Ames, Natalie Burns and Maggi Toner-Edgar.
