Workington Reds have announced their latest pre-season fixtures with the list almost complete.

Manager Mark Fell is looking to host a League One side to include in a varied and interesting round of matches leading into the start of the NPL Premier Division season on August 10.

Eight games are already pencilled in and if the League One side can agree a date it will be nine before the big kick-off.

Carlisle City, at Borough Park on July 9, and Morecambe, again at home on July 20 are the latest dates for supporters’ diaries. Morecambe replaces the original friendly at Holker Old Boys.

The series of friendlies start on July 2 at Whitehaven, competing against the West Lancashire League side for the Shaun Hocking Memorial Trophy before travelling to Longridge on Saturday, July 6 to take part in the North West Counties League side’s tournament to raise funds in memory of former captain George Melling.

Two home games follow with Carlisle City next on July 9, followed by Carlisle United on July 13. Penrith (away) on July 16 and then Morecambe (home) on July 20 continues the busy programme before Ashington (away) on July 27 and Clitheroe (away) on August 3 provides a competitive finish.

Where Reds will fit in the League One side, if confirmed, has not been announced but with all Saturday’s covered it would have to be mid-week – possibly July 23.
