Carlisle United Football Club have announced their fourth close season recruit in experienced defender Terell Thomas.
The 28-year-old, who started his career at Arsenal before signing his first professional contract at Charlton Athletic as a teenager, has agreed a two-year deal with the Blues.
He did not appear for Charlton’s first team, although he was an unused substitute on several occasions and spent two spells on loan with National League Woking over successive seasons, playing 42 times, before his release by the Addicks in 2017.
He joined Wigan Athletic but only played the senior games whilst making 19 appearances in the National League with Sutton United.
Thomas moved to Wimbledon in 2018 and went on to make more appearances there than at any of his clubs – playing 73 times and scoring his first League goal.
The next move was to Crewe but after 13 League starts his contract was contracted by mutual consent and he ended the season at Reading where he played two League games.
Thomas then returned to his first senior club, Charlton Athletic and on two one-year contracts went on to play 55 times before his release at the end of the season.
He made 40 League One appearances for the Addicks last season and has also featured 12 times on the international stage for Saint Lucia.
Manager Paul Simpson told the official United website: “I’m delighted to get Terell into the club. We’ve been working on this for a number of weeks.
“I think he’s a fantastic addition to the squad as he’s got good experience of playing in English football. He’s a full international and has just come back from competing in a couple of games for Saint Lucia where he captained the team, so he’s got leadership qualities.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing him working with us.”
