West Cumbria Search and Rescue received an automated-external defibrillator by defibshop.
The device will be stored in their search and rescue vehicles in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest emergency.
A defibrillator is the only effective treatment for a cardiac arrest, a medical emergency which currently affects 60,000 people in the UK each year.
Defibrillators deliver a controlled electric shock to the heart to stop abnormal rhythm and allows the heart’s natural pacemaker to re-establish a normal rhythm.
Sudden cardiac arrest can strike at any time without warning and no one is immune regardless of gender, age, fitness level, ethnicity or geography.
