A camp fire in the Lake District – believed to have been used by fly-campers – is a ‘desecration’ of the area, a tourist said.
A Cumbria Crack reader from Dorset, who was visiting the area, came across the aftermath of the fire while at Wastwater.
She said: “It made me very angry. It’s a desecration.”

The fire was just yards from a sign saying no overnight stays are allowed in the area and saying the area has a high fire risk so fires and barbecues were not allowed.
Wild camping is generally tolerated in the Lake District, but people are urged not to light fires.
