Plans have been lodged to convert a redundant carpet shop into a house of multiple occupancy in Barrow.
Waseem Malik has submitted a planning application to convert a former carpet shop on Buccleuch Street into an 11-bedroom facility.
According to planning documents, the three-storey terraced property would be divided to create 11 bedrooms with all having their own en suite bathroom.
Plans added there would be a spacious communal area including kitchen/dining space, including a living area.
According to a management statement there were plenty of parking spaces on Buccleuch Street and Allison Street. Cycle storage would also be provided within the building.
The management statement said there would be a number of policies and measures to manage any potential issues.
It added: “The security measures proposed should give reassurance to the occupants and the neighbours that the safety of the area will not suffer as a result of the proposal.
“The information that will be provided to the tenants along with signed anti-social behaviour policies should ensure that the tenant presence will not have a detrimental effect on the neighbourhood, especially regarding issues relating noise and nuisance.”
The application is currently undergoing public consultation.
