The Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL programme is concentrated into Saturday’s fixture list.
Top of the bill is the League clash between Wath Brow A and Maryport, just a few weeks after a memorable clash in the semi-final of EB Lamb and Son Amateur Cup.
The Hornets got the verdict then to avenge defeat in last season’s final and with home advantage will be considered favourites to follow up in the league.
But coach Paul Farrell says: “I think this is a game we are all looking forward to, because it is potentially the two sides that a lot of people expect to finish first and second.
“I think it will be a really tough game again and one that the neutrals should get out and watch because I am sure it will be worth seeing and highlight the quality in the league.
“We know what Maryport will bring. They have a big, physical pack and we will have to match their physicality, go through with the arm wrestle, complete our sets and put in our processes to dominate the opposition.
“The rotation of the squad has worked well in recent weeks. We have two back in, but two out for the first team, but I have confidence in the team we will be putting out.”
Maryport’s coach Mark Foster added: “It’s obviously a big game with both of us challenging at the top of the league.
“Both of us had close wins in the Cumberland Cup quarter finals last week and we lost to the Brow earlier in the season in the Amateur Cup so we know it will be another tough game.
“We also know that we will need to be better than last wek if we want to get the win.
“On Tuesday night we had a good opposed training session with our Under-16s to work on a few things.
“As far as the squad is concerned it’s a case of lads who were missing last week coming back in while others will be missing tomorrow.”
The other game is at Flimby where Lowca are the visitors and it should be an interesting contest.
Flimby coach Ricky Morrison said: “We know it’s going to be a tough game for us as Lowca have a strong side.
“We are missing some players due to festivals and injuries but it’s the same for both teams.”
Lee Allen, the Lowca coach, added: “I have a few key players missing but we have a good young squad to cope with it and I’m looking forward to a tough game.
“It’s nice to see Flimby back in the league. I hope they grow and keep the team together over the next few seasons. The people involved in getting the club going again deserve a lot of plaudits.”
There should have been three games tonight but all of them have been postponed.
Hensingham A v Kells A was called off because a high majority of the home club’s second team have a BARLA National Cup final on Sunday to contest. The game will be rearranged.
Egremont against Aspatria was also postponed but the two teams have agreed to reschedule it for July 20.
Ellenborough A v Distington A was also called off because the home team have so many players unavailable this weekend.
