Tate Zischke’s chance to hit heights again

After an uncharacteristic low-scoring performance at Oxford on Wednesday, Workington’s young Australian star Tate Zischke has a chance to hit the heights again when he guests for Plymouth.

The Gladiators make the long trek to Glasgow and the Comets’ teenager has been called-up to deputise at number one for the injured Nico Covatti.

Zischke failed to win a race at Oxford and only managed four points as the Comets were out-gunned – or should it be out-run – by the Cheetahs 53-37.

It will be a tough ask at Ashfield against a Tigers side recovering from a slow start to the season and a former British champion Chris Harris lining up as the opposing number one.

They won home and away against Berwick last week to boost their play-off chances, and success against the Gladiators would move them up to fifth place.

The hosts name a full-strength line-up while skipper Ben Barker returns for the Gladiators, with the meeting streamed live on the British Speedway Network, with tapes up at 7.30pm.

Glasgow Tigers

1. Chris Harris 2. Paul Starke 3. Leon Flint 4. James Pearson 5. Steve Worrall 6. Jack Smith 7. Ace Pijper

Plymouth Gladiators

1. Tate Zischke(G)  2. Alfie Bowtell 3. Dan Thompson 4. Kyle Newman 5. Ben Barker 6. Joe Thompson 7. Jacob Hook
