Outgoing chief executive Barry Morgan has had a public expression of thanks from Whitehaven’s board of directors.

Morgan stood down after Sunday’s Championship win over Dewsbury but has confirmed that he will be at the shareholders AGM next month to answer any questions put to him.

In the meantime the Haven directors issued a statement today which said: “The board of directors would like to put on record its gratitude and appreciation to outgoing CEO Barry Morgan.

“Barry led the club through some of its most difficult times, reducing its HMRC liability down to zero and bringing commercial business back to the club in the off season, offering the clubs facilities for work events and conferences.

“Barry will always be available to support the club, but not as CEO. We wish him well in prioritising his health and well-being.”

The club added it would welcome any interest from people who would like to join and support the board.

For an informal chat, call Grant Taylor on 07972808580.

Whitehaven rugby league club has called the shareholders annual general meeting for Friday, July 19.

The last one was in February, 2023 and there have been a number of changes on the board of directors since then.
