Workington’s Australian star Tate Zischke scored five and a bonus point when he guested for Plymouth Gladiators at Glasgow last night.
Zischke had a tough ask at number one and Glasgow gave their Cab Direct Championship play-off hopes a real boost with an emphatic 58-32 win over the Gladiators at Ashfield.
The Comets’ teenager, who rides at two for the Northside team, had two thirds to start with and then added a second and another third.
He was given a ride in heat 15 but was out of the points as Plymouth team-mate Dan Thompson finished third behind the Tigers top pair of Chris Harris and Steve Worrall who both scored 14+1 paid maximums.
Worrall was going through the card for the first time in Tigers colours.
The result pushes the defending champions up to fifth position in the league table, and hot on the heels of the sides in the play-off positions which include the Comets.
Dan Thompson top-scored on a tough night for the Gladiators with 10+1.
Meanwhile a former Workington rider from last year’s National Development League side Luke Harrison scored a 15-point maximum as Scunthorpe raced to a 57-33 win over Edinburgh in the WSRA National Development League.
Harrison reeled off five wins out of five as the home side, who share their meetings with Sheffield, gradually extended their advantage throughout the meeting.
