A Cumbrian music producer has been credited for his work on 10cc singer Graham Gouldman’s new solo album.
Tom Tyson, 64, a professional musician, songwriter and music producer from Whitehaven, has been named alongside top musicians who have also worked on the new album I Have Notes – including Ringo Starr and Brian May.
The Cumbrian recorded and produced a key guitar solo performed by Albert Lee last year for Gouldman’s new song Say You Love Me Tonight.
Tom was sent a copy of the new album over the weekend after it officially released on Friday and said he was thrilled to see his name printed in the credits.
He added: “I feel amazing, I didn’t think I’d get a credit, but I did. I got a copy sent to me yesterday and I’m on an album with a Beatle, which for me is just a lifetime achievement really.

“With these things you don’t know until the album comes out whether or not you’ll be credited and printed in the album, but Graham’s given me the credit which is really surreal.
“You can see Ringo’s name, Brian May and Hank Marvin and it’s just like wow, these people are icons, you can’t top them, they’re the absolute best and there’s little old me next to them.”
Albert Lee and Tom and have been good friends for several years – so the recording for Graham’s new album took place at Tom’s studio The Music Farm, based just outside of Egremont.
Tom added: “I think the fact the track was recorded here in Cumbria is important for our area. We can actually work alongside people like Ringo Starr, that track was recorded right here, not anywhere else!
“I remember when I first picked up a guitar and had my mum’s Please Please Me album and I looked at these guys names never thinking one day I’d end up on album with one of them.”
Tom was also invited to Newcastle to see 10cc in concert as part of his work for Gouldman and got to meet the star musician and his band back stage.
He added: “Graham told me he was very happy with what I’d done for him. While I was backstage there the guitar player also started talking to me saying he’d heard the track and thought I’d done a great job on it.

“I said to him how long had he been with Graham and he said since 82, so I asked him who did he play with before that and he said ABBA.
“It just makes you think hang on, I’m stood with these guys and they’re the best of the best. But to hear my work alongside these people is just fabulous.
“It’s all nothing to do with money either, it’s like being in the premier league really.”
Graham Gouldman’s new album is available now on all major streaming platforms.
