Barrow have signed the experienced 27-year old defender Theo Vassell on a one year deal.
He joins the Holker Street club after three years with Salford City where he clocked up 115 appearances.
That’s comfortably his best playing record since he started with home-town club Stoke City asc a nine-year-old.
He stayed at Stoke until he was 18 and then joined Oldham and Walsall without making a senior appearance.
It was when he went to Chester on loan that he started to get game time with 31 appearances in two spells.
He spent much of 2017/18 season with Gateshead and made 24 appearances. It attracted the attention of Port Vale who signed him but he only made 15 League starts for them.
The next move was to Macclesfield in 2019 where he played 17 times before signing for Wrexham in 2020 and after 31 League appearances he was on the move again.
It was the switch to Salford City that really ignited his career over the next three seasons with 100 League appearances and 15 more in Cup competitions.
He now has the chance to make a name for himself in the centre of the Barrow defence as the Bluebirds’ sixth signing of the summer.
Discussing his switch to Barrow, Vassell said: “I felt now was the right time to make a change within my career, so after some discussions with them [Salford], I thought that I wanted to potentially move on and find a new home.
“Having obviously spoken with the Gaffer and talked about his visions for the future and what he thinks of me, I’m now really excited and looking forward to getting going here at Barrow.
“Every game I give everything. I’m quick and strong and I just enjoy winning games so that’s the main thing for me.”
