Three-horse race in West Cumbria Fours League

With six weeks left the race for the West Cumbria Fours League title it is increasingly looking like a three-horse race.

The reigning champions Workington A are the favourites with an eight-point lead over Whitehaven A and Fitz Park, Keswick a further five points in arrears. But Fitz Park do have a game in hand.

Whitehaven A clawed another point back on Workington A as they beat Cleator Moor 7-0 while the champions managed a 6-1 win at Maryport. Fitz Park were 5-2 winners at Whitehaven B.

The other result was Workington B 5, Vulcan Park 2.

League standings (games played and points): Workington A 11-65, Whitehaven A 11-57, Fitz Park 10-52, Cleator Moor 10-36, Maryport 11-36, Seaton 10-25, Workington B 10-23, Vulcan Park 10-19, Whitehaven B 12-15.

In the West Cumbria Mixed Triples League the table looks like this (games played and points): Workington 7-56, Whitehaven A 7-46, Croft 8-36, Maryport 8-34, Harris Park A 8-34, Wigton 5-33, Cleator Moor 7-31, Harris Park B 7-29, Seascale 5-24, Whitehaven B 6-23, Seaton 5-22, Vulcan Park 5-11, Egremont 7-8.

One of the outstanding quarter-final ties of the Knock-Out Cup competition was played recently, the result being Seaton 1 Harris Park A 8.
