Kendal Town came from behind to beat Garstang at Parkside Road, raising their game in the second-half to outplay the visitors.
They had trailed in the 25th minute when a seep cross wasn’t cut out and Danny Squires had a simple tap in.
Kendal laboured to find an equaliser and when they did get through found keeper Joel Sargent in good form. He made a couple of good stops to deny James Bailey and Steve Yawson.
Then two goals in three minutes right on half-time enabled Kendal to go in at the break 2-1 to the good.
First it was Yawson on 43 minutes who slipped through the Garstang defence, went round the keeper and slotted home.
Then in the first minute of added time a cross from Ryan Winder was met by James Bailey whose side-footed effort was blocked by the keeper but Ben Thomas was there to knock home the loose ball.
It took only four minutes of the second half for Kendal to extend their lead. This time it was a Winder corner which was headed home by Matt Dudley.
Three minutes later it was 4-1 when a shot from recent signing Jordan Palmer was blocked but Bailey was there to finish with aplomb.
After that Kendal could have run away with the game had it not been for great work by Sargent who made a series of quality saves, mainly in thwarting Palmer.
