Workington Reds fixtures revealed

Workington Reds manager Mark Fell is set for an early confrontation with his old team from Lancaster City.

It’s an intriguing first home match of the NPL Premier Division on Tuesday, August 13 when former Reds boss Chris Willcock brings his City team to Borough Park.

Willcock followed Fell into the City job and a few years ago he also followed Fell into the hot seat at Ramsbottom.

But there is the opening game to consider before Fell and his troops can prepare for Lancaster. They start with a tough-looking assignment at Guiseley who just missed out on the play-offs last season.

Reds follow-up at home after the Lancaster game with a clash against old adversaries from NPL West in Leek Town who were losing play-off semi-finalists in Workington’s promotion season but completed the job in April by winning the League by ten clear points.

The following Tuesday (August 20) Reds also play a team who were in NPL West last season and won promotion in Prescot Cables who have just parted company with their manager

Reds supporters who travel away won’t have far to go over the seasonal festivities as they can do their Christmas shopping in Lancaster on Saturday, December 21 while they will be at home to Hebburn Town on Boxing Day.

Fell will take his Workington squad to Morpeth on Easter Monday after a home game with Prescot Cables on Easter Saturday.

Reds will complete their season on Saturday, April 26 at home to Ashton United – the side beaten 5-0 in Reds opening game last season.
