Carlisle City enjoyed a comfortable 6-2 home win against Creetown, a week away from the start of the Northern League season against Tow Law.
New manager Dan Kirkup announced himself well satisfied at his team’s performance, although admitted he was a little disappointed at the two goals conceded through switching-off at set plays.
He has quickly moved to sign the trialist centre-half Lewis Mitchinson, who gave a strong performance alongside Carlisle United loanee Josh O’Brien.
City scored through Adam Gordon (2), Callum Birdsall (2), Keighran Kerr and Mitchinson to finish as comfortable winners against a side who had beaten Gretna a week earlier.
Next on the agenda is a match against a Carlisle United Under-18’s side, spiced-up with some reserves, on Tuesday night before the Northern League opener on Saturday.
“It’s a busy start to the season for us because we start on Saturday, have another League game on Tuesday and then the FA Cup on Friday night,” said Kirkup who has taken over the reins from Jim Nichols.
