An injured sheep that appeared to have been the victim of a dog attack in the Lake District was rescued from a ledge at the bottom of Fisherplace Gill, near Thirlmere, on Monday afternoon.
The stricken Herdwick ewe had bite marks which led rescuers to believe it had been mauled by a dog. Three members of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team attended and managed to sling the sheep and lift it to the path and down to the farm.
