Barrow twice held the lead against Spanish visitors Real Union but had to settle in the end for a 2-2 draw.
It was new manager Stephen Clemence’s first game in charge at the SO Legal Stadium after last week’s 5-0 defeat at Kilmarnock.
Barrow had taken time to find their rhythm and when they did almost took the lead after a fine piece of link-up play between Dean Campbell and Robbie Gotts. When the ball was whipped low into the box it was just beyond the outstretched leg of Emile Acquah.
Ged Garner followed-up with a head which almost found a way past the Spanish keeper but it was summer signing Connor Mahoney who made the breakthrough.
Showing good footwork in the box he evaded two defenders, a turned sharply to fire home inside the far post.
But the Spanish visitors came back well and just before the interval they levelled.
A free kick lifted towards the far post saw Javier Dominguez rise to head home into the top corner.
Acquah had the first effort at goal in the second-half but a well-struck shot was straight at Real keeper Carlos Perez.
Barrow restored their lead on 58 minutes when a corner from Gotts reached Theo Vassell but his effort was cleared off the line. However, Rory Feely reacted quickest to hammer the loose ball into the roof of the net.
Clemence made six changes on the hour mark and it was Real Union who looked the more dangerous side in the final quarter of the game.
They were rewarded with an equaliser when Ivan Ayon managed to steer the ball past Paul Farman as he rushed out to try and close him down.
