Aspatria Library is set to reopen next month following a revamp.
The work, carried out by Roland Hill on behalf of Cumberland Council, will also feature a dedicated space for children, including a playroom, messy craft room and outdoor play area, plus a room for other organisations to use.
The library will be open to the public from Wednesday, August 7, and a celebration event will be taking place week beginning August 19.
In the meantime, residents can access a temporary library service at the children’s centre on Kings Street.
The construction and renovation work has been carried out by Roland Hill.
Councillor Anne Quilter, executive member of vibrant and healthy places for Cumberland Council, said: “We are thrilled to bring this newly transformed library to Aspatria. This facility will provide valuable resources and services to our residents, fostering learning, growth, and community engagement. It represents a significant investment in our community’s future, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact it will have.”
Cllr Emma Williamson, executive member of children’s services, family wellbeing and housing, added: “The new children’s centre is a fantastic addition to the transformed library building.
“The fantastic space for 0-5 years, complete with a playroom, ‘messy play’ area, and secure outdoor space, is designed to give our youngest residents the best start in life and we look forward to welcoming families soon.”
