An escapee cow forced emergency services to close the M6.
Police were called at around 5.35pm yesterday, Monday August 5, with reports that a cow was on the eastbound carriageway of the A590, near Junction 36 of the M6.
The cow subsequently ended up on the M6.
Police attended and temporarily closed the M6 for safety reasons.
With the help of several local farmers, officers were able to safely secure the animal and transport it away from the area, Cumbria police said.
At around 6.55pm, Cumbria police issued a statement to say the incident had been safely concluded and thanked the people who had helped them and drivers for their patience.
