Kings, Witches, Lovers and Souls – A compass of Cumbrian legends is a new music-drama from Jen Hartley.
It takes audiences anticlockwise around old Cumbria from west to north, pausing to uncover old tales of battles, spirits, loyalty, love, betrayal, and superstition.
From ruined abbeys to enchanted stone circles, watery secrets to ghostly cairns, this is a folkloric tour of the magic of Eden, the Lakes, and the Dales.
Uther Pendragon, the Witches from Tebay, and the Ghostly Monks from Shap combine for a musical celebration of Cumbria’s magical history!
Starring Cumbrians Eleanor McIntosh, Anna Cooper, and Jonathan Hill (Glyndebourne, Garsington, Royal Opera House), Cumbria Opera Group’s 2024 production promises to be a unique celebration of Cumbria, and features the debut of the Cumbria Opera Youth Chorus.
Suitable for all ages, designed for families, and made for opera-lovers and opera-newcomers alike.
