Plans to convert a former Lake District café into a restaurant have been withdrawn.
Grove Farm Partnerships had applied to turn a barn, previously used as a cafe and shop, at Grove Farm in Ambleside into the restaurant.
The company told the Lake District National Park Authority that it wanted to enter into a partnership with local fine dining restaurateur Ryan Blackburn at the Stockghyll Lane venue.
Mr Blackburn owns and runs Michelin Star Restaurant The Old Stamp House with his business partners and family.
The firm said the cafe and shop proved unsustainable as a business, despite significant investment, commitment from staff and support from local people.
In response, the applicant’s agent said it was vital for Stockghyll Lane to remain a safe and attractive place for walkers.
The application was withdrawn on August 12.
