Finnish star Antti Vuolas will represent Workington Comets in the Championship Pairs at Oxford tonight.
Vuolas comes in to partner Troy Batchelor in a competition that Workington have won on several occasions in the past.
The exciting youngster replaces Comets skipper Craig Cook who has been absent for the last fortnight while his partner went through a particularly tough end to her pregnancy.
Cook has posted a message saying: “After weeks in and out of hospital we are finally over the line, super proud of Charlotte you were amazing.
“Carter now has a little baby brother Colt William Cook. Couldn’t be happier. Thanks to both my clubs for their patience, see you trackside soon.”
Cook is expected to be back on Wednesday when the Comets travel to Poole for the first leg of their BSN Series semi-final against the Pirates.
The Comets were heavily beaten 61-29 in the Championship but will have been encouraged to see that The Pirates lost 49-41 at home to the Oxford Cheetahs.
The return leg at Northside is on Saturday, August 31 while sandwiched in between on August 25 is the final Championship meeting against Plymouth
