A man spotted on a Workington street with what looked like a samurai sword was actually carrying an umbrella.
Cumbria police said a video began circulating on social media yesterday, Tuesday August 20, showing a man on Senhouse Street with the alleged weapon.
Police said: “The alleged item an umbrella with a samurai sword handle was handed over to officers by the man.
“Officers received two reports, one at 8.47pm on New Bridge Road, Workington in which staff within Tesco confirmed to officers the alleged item was an umbrella with a samurai sword handle having asked and being shown the umbrella by the male.
“We received a further report at 9.19pm to a report on Senhouse Street, Workington, same description as the male spoken to earlier in Tesco.”
