A team of volunteers hit the streets of Cockermouth on Sunday to give their town a bit of a summer spruce up.
The initiative was organised by Cockermouth & District Chamber of Trade and included helpers from Cockermouth Emergency Response Group as well as community-minded individuals.
They did some weeding and litter picking, and washed down seating areas, to ensure the streets were looking their best for the rest of the season.
The event was co-ordinated by Joe Murray, co-chair of the chamber of trade and manager of The Children’s Society shop.
He said: “Thank you to everyone who came and got their hands dirty for the good of Cockermouth.
“We’re really proud of our vibrant town but had spotted a few areas of Main Street, Market Place and Station Street which needed a little extra TLC so decided to just get on with sorting them out.
“Thank you to Cumberland Council for providing the necessary equipment. We see this as a real team effort and all want to do our bit to keep Cockermouth looking its best.”
