Carlisle City went down 4-2 at Crook Town in the Northern League and left manager Dan Kirkup fuming over the defending.
The Cumbrians were 3-0 down at half-time as Crook Town’s persistence in loading the City box caused continual problems.
A long-throw specialist was particularly effective and two of the goals came from headers in the six-yard box which Kirkup felt should have been cleared.
Charlie Bunton had put Crook Town ahead after 17 minutes and Corey Nicholson added the second four minutes later.
Bunton got his second on 35 minutes from another long throw and although City got a lifeline in first-half added time it was only a temporary reprieve.
Jordan Irving scored from the penalty spot in the second minute of stoppage time but within seven minutes of the restart Crook had restored their three goal advantage with a finish by Reece Havelock-Brown.
It stayed that way until the last minute when Josh Simpson scored a second for City.
