
Former Barrow manager Pete Wild is the bookies favourite to be the next head coach at Division One side Blackpool.
The Seasiders have been in no rush to appoint a new man in charge as it’s been a fortnight since the sacking of Neil Critchley.
An early favourite to take the job his latest odds have been trimmed to evens favourite by the website firm bettingodds.com.
Although his own playing career was a short one he has carved out a career for himself in coaching after working with his boyhood club Oldham Athletic, including spells as caretaker manager.
In 2019, he took over as manager at Halifax Town manager, and enjoyed a successful three-year spell with the Shaymen, in which the club gained two play-off finishes in the National League.
He then had two seasons at Barrow, who had just avoided a return to the National League when he took over and guided them to a ninth place finish.
Last season they were in the automatic promotion places for a while, were still pushing for a play-off place before an end of season collapse cost them that chance – and it would seem his job.
When he left the Bluebirds said in their statement that they had “different perspectives on the way forward.”
Former Manchester City youth coach Brian Barry-Murphy and Blackpool interim coach Richard Keogh are both at 8/1, while former Seasiders midfielders Richie Wellens and Charlie Adam are 10/1.
