Workington’s Rio Hardy continued her magnificent start to the Scottish Women’s Premier League season as Rangers maintained their 100% record with a 10-0 thrashing at bottom club Dundee United, writes John Hastings.
Rio came off the bench to score her fifth goal in five games and create a fourth assist of the fledgling season to keep Rangers top of the league with not only maximum points, but also having scored 43 goals and taken five successive clean sheets.
Once again, it was new signing Katie Wilkinson who stole the show for Rangers with a fourth hat-trick of the season to give her 14 goals in five games.
Rangers – and Rio – now turn their attention to Women’s Champions League action this Wednesday as they travel to take on Arsenal for a place in the next round, while over in Cyprus, Rio’s twin sister Steffi and her Apollon team mates will be hoping to progress when they host Armenian side FC Pyunik.
