
A Workington grandfather-of-eight has died following a motorbike collision in the North East.
Tony Jackson, chairman of the town’s Royal British Legion, was involved in the collision in County Durham last Friday.
Mr Jackson, 66, was well known in Workington for is work with the legion. He served in the Border Regiment and the Royal Green Jackets and was also a chairman of the Duke of Lancaster Regimental Association West Cumberland branch.
He leaves behind his wife, Lesley, children Philip, Sharon, Jamie, Matthew, and Sam, and grandchildren Phillipa, Philip, Cayden, Beau, Alex, Patrick, Albie, and Rosie.

Emergency services were called at around 12.40pm on Friday, August 30, to the A68 at High Stoop near Tow Law.
Mr Jackson died at the scene.
Two land ambulances, two fire crews and the Great North Air Ambulance also attended the incident. A spokesman for the charity said: “Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service to assess and treat a patient.”
The North East Ambulance Service said it also dispatched a crew from its hazardous area response team.
