Workington Reds Academy sent three age group sides to play Liverpool this week at their Academy headquarters.

Reds took their Under-11s, Under-13s and Under-14s to play the other Reds and competed well in all the games.

Head of the Workington Academy Brian Dawson said: “These games are fantastic opportunities for our players to not only experience some of the best facilities in the country but also to see the standards that our players have to aspire to.

“Against Academy teams we often play a year down to make the games competitive and beneficial for both parties.

“They competed really well in all the games and represented the club impeccably which is also important to ensure we are asked back.

“We have a great relationship with the Liverpool coaches having visited on several occasions previously so we must be doing something right.”

Workington Academy Under 13s also played Liverpool.

The Workington Academy operate 11 teams from Under-7s through to Under-18s and so far this season as well as Liverpool they have visited Morecambe and Fleetwood.

In the pipeline are games against Carlisle, Bradford, Walsall and Newcastle.
