There was a wet finish to the Cumbria League season with three of the Premier Division games abandoned.
Fortunately it didn’t affect any important standings which had been competed last week as Carlisle completed a third successive title and Haverigg missed out on the battle to avoid relegation.
Carlisle’s final game of the season at Keswick never took place so the champions missed out on the chance to put the record straight against the only team to beat them.
Haverigg hadn’t the opportunity to go out with a bang as their local derby at Millom was also called off without a ball being bowled.
Furness against Whitehaven would have been a battle to confirm fourth-place but it was also abandoned and the south Cumbrians finished six points ahead of the Copeland side.
In the games that were played there were wins for Cockermouth, Dalton and Workington.
At Sandair visitors Wigton were whipped-out for 45 in 18.3 overs as Matt Reed (9) top-scored.
Shrikant Mundhe (4-19), Ethan Hardie-Knight (2-5), Gabriel Drimmie (2-5) and Josh Brown (2-10) shared the wickets.
Cockermouth lost three quick wickets but were carried to a seven wicket win in 12.3 overs by Drimmie (22no) and Mundhe (18no). It meant Cockermouth finished nine points behind the champions in the end.
Dalton will feel pleased to have finished their season back in the top flight in solid mid-table with over 100 points. They ended with an eight wicket win at Cleator.
Batting first Cleator were bowled out for 124 with David Blackwell (23), Connor Hodgson (21) and Asdam Meagan (20) providing most runs.
Joss Edwards (4-21) and Dan Sharpe (4-30) were the leading wicket-takers for Dalton.
The visitors lost two early wickets but were carried through to victory in 29 overs by sub pro Lahiru Dilshan (64no) and Edwards (28no).
At the Valentine Ground, Workington beat Egremont by 32 runs in a game reduced to 35 overs a side.
Workington chose to bat first and completed their allotted overs with 157-7 as Australian Jack White completed his good end-of-season run with the bat by scoring 75no. His best support came from wicket-keeper Sam Bates (38).
Matthew Hunter did best with the ball for Egremont with 2-26.
At the end of their overs Egremont had only managed to get to 125-7 with Raghav Kapur (41no) top-scoring. Adam Chambers (2-14) and Ben Scott (2-26) were the most successful Workington bowlers.
