Workington will be representing Cumbria in the English Clubs Championship being held at Stanton-on-the-Wolds in Nottinghamshire.
The West Cumbrians are regular competitors in the championship having won the event in 2009 and have been the county’s representatives 17 times in the past 22 years.
Mark Cowan, Seb Nixon and William Bowe were the successful trio 15 years ago when victory earned them a trip to Istanbul to play in the European Club Championships where they finished a respectable 7th of 33 teams.
Fifteen years on Bowe will be back in the Workington team, replacing Chris Neil who has domestic commitments on Saturday and Sunday when the Championships are taking place.
Neil, along with Jack Hunter and Jonathan Crosby clinched the County clubs title again at Ulverston but Bowe, club champion eighteen times is a more than useful replacement.
The Championship consists of 36 holes of scratch stroke play over the two days, Saturday and Sunday with the players given the opportunity to practice on Friday.
The winners are the club with the lowest combined score of all three players across the 36 holes.
