Three County Cup quarter finals are to be played on Saturday, October 5 – the first free window in the League season.
Upper Eden are already through to the semi-final after a narrow win over Carlisle and now the other clubs involved in the competition have agreed the same date for the remaining ties.
Holders Penrith have a home tie against Keswick while Cumbria’s other representative in Regional 1 North West, Kendal are also at home to Aspatria.
The third tie will see Kirkby Lonsdale entertain Cockermouth – two sides what suffered relegations last season.
Aspatria, with 32, have most wins in the history of the competition and they were the first winners in 1882/83 when they beat Whitehaven at Cockermouth.
Penrith have won the last four contested finals – there was a break because of Covid in the two seasons 2019/20 and 2020/21. They had won the trophy before the pandemic and have won the last three since.
They now have 12 County Cup successes, one behind Wigton (who are not in this season’s competition) and level with Workington.
Keswick (7), Cockermouth (6) and Kendal (5) are the other tallies with Kirkby Lonsdale the only side not to have won it, although they will have played in the competition on much fewer occasions.
