A man collapsed and died while out on a Lake District walk.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team said they were called at around 12.40pm on September 20 to Skiddaw.

The team said: “A group of walkers came across a man who had collapsed and was unresponsive on the summit ridge of Skiddaw.

“The group immediately commenced CPR whilst calling the emergency services.

“The air ambulance was quickly deployed and landed nearby while Keswick Mountain Rescue Team ascended from Dodd Wood. Despite the best efforts of all involved nothing could be done to save the man.

“Our thoughts and condolences go to the man’s family and friends.”
