Cleator Moor Celtic are through to the second round of the Fred Conway County Cup after a 3-0 win last night over Whitehaven Miners.
But Celtic manager Gareth Agnew was at pains to praise the County League side who he thought had played particularly well.
Indeed they proved a well-drilled side, particularly in the first half when they passed the ball well and caused a few problems.
However, the only goal of the half came from Celtic after the lively Ellis Trotter had been fouled in the box. Jack Burns scored from the spot.
Celtic dominated the second-half and Trotter grabbed a second goal before substitute Owen Woodburn tucked home a third with a great finish into the bottom corner.
Celtic join Carlisle City in the second round, while two more ties will be sorted on Saturday – Mirehouse v holder Workington Reds and Braithwaite v Windscale.
The tie between Carlisle United and Workington Juniors still has to be arranged but the remaining five ties will be played on October 5.
They are: Dearham United v Wetheriggs United; Silloth v Bransty Rangers; Kirkoswald v Penrith; Wigton Harriers v Unisun Athletic; Eden Valley v Fellside United.
Six teams had byes into the second round – Aspatria, Keswick, Greystoke, Langwathby United, Maryport Athletic and Whitehaven.
