It’s been a torrid start to the season for the Creighton club in Counties 1 Cumbria.
After an opening day win at Ambleside (28-22) they suffered a huge 104-0 home defeat by Penrith 2nds and the following week had to concede the game with Whitehaven.
Those two weeks were severely disrupted by numerous player unavailabilities and coach Richard Liddle was delighted to name a full squad of twenty to face Hawcoat Park who had former Creighton player Will Langley appearing in their second row.
In a bad-tempered affair referee Alistair Jones had to issue several yellow cards, four for the away team and one for the home side. Eventually one player from both sides was sent off, hooker Joel Davidson seeing red for Creighton.
Eventually Creighton ran out winners 19-10, with tries from flanker Jason Tait and stand-off Louis Cawley. Full back Keenan Foster slotted three penalties.
Wigton travelled to Ambleside and secured their biggest win of the season so far 114-3 scoring 18 tries, of which 12 were converted.

With the bonus point secured by half time, the offer of mixing the sides up was politely declined by the hosts.
The big win brought to an end a good first month of league rugby for the Lowmoor road side, unbeaten in the first four outings in their quest to be crowned champions in April.
Some tough games lie ahead and the squad will need to keep training hard and developing their understanding & skillset to be sure of challenging at the end of the season.
There’s no first team game this week but Wigton 2nds are hosting Penrith 3rds at Lowmoor Road in a friendly, with a 2pm kick off.

It gives a chance for plenty of the young players to get some much needed game time and learn off some of their more experienced team mates as a few old faces are putting the boots back on to help this development side.
Sadly for the third week in a row Aspatria Eagles cried off their game at home to Whitehaven, which must be a worrying statistic for the Bower Park club.
Best game was at Millom were the home side went down 27-17 to Egremont, on of four unbeaten sides in the League.

Penrith 2nds are likely to be one of the front runners and they were too strong for Keswick ends at Davidson Park, winning 54-8 although by all report the score did not truly represent the flow of the game.
Ollie Dunn scored a try and kicked a penalty for Keswick but Penrith, with their strong running and quick passing backs, were always dangerous and finished with eight tries and six conversions.
Workington are another side who have had problems fielding teams but they were able to host St Benedict’s, although the visitors enjoyed a 62-0 victory.
