It was another weekend of Fred Conway Cumberland Cup Round One action on Saturday.
Cumberland County League Division One outfit Dearham United welcomed Wetheriggs United who currently play in the Westmorland League Division One to Pottery Park.
It proved to be an entertaining tie as the two sides couldn’t be separated after a 2-2 draw with Brandon Brown and Callum Foy both netting for Dearham and Joe Walton and Josh Padgett providing the goals for Wetheriggs who eventually won the fixture 5-4 on penalties.
In the all-Westmorland League tie of the day, Fellside United of Division One beat Eden Valley from Division Three 7-2 thanks to goals from Ben Allen (2), Brady Wiser, Adam Chubb, Bruce Bowman and Ollie Allen, as well as an own goal. Josh Smith and Ryan Yates were the Eden Valley goal scorers.
It was an all Cumberland County League Division One affair when Silloth hosted Bransty Rangers and it was the visitors who won the tie 3-1. They scored through Spike Canavan (2) and Stewart O’Pray while Jackson Slack scored for Silloth.
Unisun Athletic earned themselves a 2-1 victory against Wigton Harriers when these Cumberland County League Premier Division clubs met. Goals from Ellis Dickinson and Shane Dorward helped put Unisun into round two, with Louie Elliot on target for Harriers.
