
Carlisle earned a good point from a goalless draw at Colchester but remain third bottom of League Two
The Cumbrians had looked solid and capable in the first-half, although the two best chances had fallen to Colchester.
The hosts should have scored after only seven minutes when Arthur Read split the Carlisle defence but Samson Tovide shot wide.
Carlisle also had a good chance when Josh Vela was left in front of goa;l but didn’t really connect with his shot which was saved by goalkeeper Matt Macey.
Jack Payne should have given Colchester the lead but wasted a great chance when he scuffed a shot which went wide from close in.
Colchester looked the most likely to score in the final quarter although on a Carlisle counter attack Ellis Landolo had to make a superb last-ditch tackle to rob Charlie Wyke when he was bearing down on goal.
Late on Read put in a fine 20-yarder which Harry Lewis did well to push away as the two teams had to settle for a point – after a rare draw for Carlisle.
