Workington scored two late goals to deservedly clinch a 3-1 FA Trophy win over Morpeth Town after they had gone behind early in the game.
They had fallen behind in the 14th minute when Morpeth got through rather too easily. Fenton John ran at the home defence before slipping a ball through for Jack Foalle who beat Alex Mitchell frpom close range.
Reds best opportunities had fallen to Steven Rigg and Josh Galloway but they shot over the bar when well-placed while three home players couldn’t get on the end of a really dangerous free-kick from Dav Symington which flashed across the face of the Morpeth goal.
Workington set the pace right from the start of the second-half and they brought the first real save of the game out of Morpeth’s Dan Langley who palmed away a shot from Kai Langley.
They drew level on the hour after Symington hit a screamer which came back off the post with keeper Langley well beaten but Rigg was there to slam the rebound into the net.

Workington continued to dominate possession and the introduction of Jamie Allen proved to be the trump card played by manager Mark Fell.
Allen has been recovering from a niggling hamstring strain and on Monday is off to the Caribbean with the Montserrat team during the international break and he provided Reds with the breakthrough.
Penalties were looming when Allen struck in the 85th minute. Good work by fellow substitute Tom Stephenson ended with Allen producing a calm finish into the bottom corner from just inside the area.
Two minutes later more persistent work from Stephenson created a third goal with the hard-working Rigg going on to fire past Langley.
Rigg was again outstanding for the Reds, adding two goals to his usual work rate, with Mark Fell commenting after the game how pleased he had been with the contributions from three of his substitutions – Allen, Stephenson and Brad Hubbold.
