A Carlisle man has jailed for 14 years for three counts of rape.
Kevin Clarry, 41, of Charles Street, was sentenced at the city’s crown court today after being found guilty of three counts of rape at a trial that ended on October 7.
The offences relate to incidents against one woman.
Clarry was also give an indefinite restraining order.
Detective Constable Tony Wheatcroft said: “Offences of this nature can be extremely difficult for victims to speak about.
“Support is available in Cumbria for victims of sexual offences and the constabulary works closely with trusted partner agencies to provide the appropriate support which is tailored to an individual’s circumstances.
“I would encourage anyone who has been victim to a sexual offence to contact police so that our specially trained officers can investigate and support victims through the criminal justice process.”
