Phil Norman, chairman, Workington Reds (Ben Challis)

Workington Reds are looking to increase their board membership and have invited applications from would-be directors.

The current board is actively looking to drive the NPL Premier Division club forward and wants more help in achieving their ambitions.

Chairman Phil Norman, vice chairman Richard Lewthwaite, Chris Root and Simon Collins make up the board at present.

In a message on the club’s official website the board said: “The directors of Workington AFC would like to invite expressions of interest to join the board as we look to drive the club forward.

“This is an opportunity to help shape the future of a club with a wonderful history and is at the heart of the local community at this exciting time, as we seek to build on our recent promotion and finalise a move to a new stadium.

“If you have the energy and enthusiasm to join a small, hard-working team and help continue the progress made by the club, both on and off the field over recent years, we would like to hear from you.”

Workington were promoted back to the NPL Premier Division after the 2022/23 season and are currently around mid-table in the current season.

Expressions of interest should be sent to commercial@workingtonafc.com. People are asked to include a little bit about themselves and what they feel they could bring to the club in the role of a director.
