Workington Reds look to improve their record on the road tomorrow after three successive home victories.
Mark Fell takes his side to Hyde United after three good wins at Borough Park against Whitby Town, Morpeth Town and Ilkeston Town.
Two of those were in the League and the middle one in the FA Trophy.
Hyde are currently eighth in the table, just two points off the play-offs – and four points better off than the Reds.
Fell will expect to have left back Aran Fitzpatrick available again after he as required by Carlisle to travel to Wimbledon last week.
But United team-mate Jake Allan is still struggling with an injury and will be unavailable.
However Jamie Allen will be rejoining the squad after he was with Montserrat during the international break and saw action for 30 minutes as a substitute on Sunday when they lost 1-0 at home to Bonaire after beating them away three days earlier.
Carlisle City
Carlisle City enjoyed a great run in the FA Vase last season, hence their later entry into this year’s competition.
They make their seasonal bow tomorrow with a trip to Guisborough, which will be a tough test for Dan Kirkup’s men.
Kirkup wasn’t happy with the two goals his side conceded from corners in the 3-2 defeat to Whitley Bay on Saturday and improving defensively will be the aim.
Penrith
Penrith have put together two excellent results in the Northern League – a 2-0 win at West Auckland and a 4-1 home success against Easington Colliery – and want to follow-up at Frenchfield against West Allotment Celtic.
Manager Darren Edmondson feels it’s down to getting his players back from injury and resulting in a strong, competitive squad.
Kendal Town
Kendal Town moved into the top five with their 2-1 win over North Shields last week and will obviously be working hard to stay there.
Tomorrow they have a tricky looking game at Newcastle Benfield, who have recently changed managers.
There’s been a bounce, too, with a good 4-2 win at Marske on Saturday and a 4-3 win in mid-week at Seaham Red Star – where Kendal recently lost 4-3.
Other teams
Holker Old Boys lead the way in North West Counties Division One North but frustratingly don’t have a League game for three weeks.
In the West Lancashire League Whitehaven had a fine 3-0 home win over Lostock St. Gerard’s last week but have a tough follow-up.
They travel to Tempest United who are the current League leaders but it’s a challenge new manager Carl Short is looking forward to. Tempest are unbeaten after 12 games.
Neighbours Cleator Moor Celtic lost 4-0 at home last week to Rossendale but should have a chance to make-up for that tomorrow.
They travel to Eagley, one of only two teams below them in the table, although nine of their ten points have come from home games.
In the Wearside League, west Cumbrian representatives Windscale were deprived a home game in mid-week when scheduled visitors Bishop Auckland reserves withdrew from the League. It was the third time the fixture had been programmed for the Falcon Complex – and each time they pulled-out of the game.
Tomorrow the Atoms are at home to Seaton Carew Seniors.
