Sell-out for Marras and Arras competition

Week five of the Speed Competitions Ranking Series organised by Marras and Arras was another sell-out.

A total of 30 players toed the oche for the open and 10 for the U55 average series.

The open boiled down to a blockbuster final between Jack Pollard and Tom Smith.

However an average of 102 from Jack swept Tom aside with a 3-0 victory. 

Quarter-final

  • Jack Pollard 3:0 Lee Wilson
  • Neil Linford 3:0 Nicky Anderson
  • Will Rowley 3:0 Adam Jenkinson
  • Tom Smith 3:2 Nick Twinn

Semi-finals

  • Jack Pollard 3:2 Neil Linford
  • Tom Smith 3:0 Will Rowley

Final

  • Jack Pollard 3:0 Tom Smith

The U55 Average was yet again won by Daniel Hodgson, making it a run of five events on the trot.

Dan is now 11 points clear at the top of the table and is on course for a landslide series victory.

Semi-final

  • Dan Hodgson 2:0 Jackson Graves
  • Stephen Halligan 2:0 James Wilson Ball

Final

  • Dan Hodgson 3:0 Stephen Halligan

Saturday saw the penultimate event of the Nigel Kay Homes development series held at Moor Row Working Men’s Club.

Yet again a sell-out field of 30 players took part in the 10th entry of the year-long series. Kieran Timmins ran out the eventual winner beating Robert Atkinson 3:1 in the final.

Quarter-finals

  • Chris Ward 3:0 Karl Batey
  • Kieran Timmins 3:0 Steve Johnstone
  • Paul Branthwaite 3:1 Charlie Schofield
  • Robert Atkinson 3:1 Liam Woodburn

Semi-finals

  • Kieran Timmins 3:1 Chris Ward
  • Robert Atkinson 3:0 Paul Branthwaite

Final

  • Kieran Timmins 3:1 Robert Atkinson

With just one event left to be played Paul Branthwaite is one point clear at the top of the table.
