Carlisle City manager Dan Kirkup is putting the FA Vase to the back of his mind until November 9.
A second round home draw against Blyth Town has been welcomed but there are important Northern League games to play before then – starting tonight at Shildom.
“It’s a tough place to go,” said Kirkup, “but the win on Saturday in the Vase was a big boost for everyone and was more like how I want us to play.
“There are three weeks to the next round and we want as many league points as possible before then to lift us up the table.”
Assistant manager Michael Slack, who starred at Guisborough in his first game for four years, will be missing as will goalkeeper Scott Simons and Asdam Gordon, while there’s a doubt over the experienced Jake Simpson.
Lewis Mitchinson come into the squad while Scott Paden-Gale, the Cleator Moor Celtic goalkeeper comes in on dual registration.
Looking at the Vase tie Kirkup said: “Although we have beaten them 3-2 at home early in the season I consider it a really tough draw. We really did carry a lot of luck on that occasion with their keeper sent-off.
“In truth I would have preferred a home tie against a team from another league as it’s always nice to take on fresh opposition.
“The bottom line is if we show the same application that we showed on Saturday we can win it.”
