Rugby League clubs have been anxiously waiting for the new IMG Grading results ahead of the 2025 season.
From Super League to Championship and League One the new results are to be announced tomorrow – except in Whitehaven’s case.
The Ortus Rec club has struggled financially to reach the end of the season, with fears at one point they would not be able to complete their fixtures.
It’s been a chaotic finish to the 2024 campaign and one which the club was wanting to put behind it with a reset for life in League One under a new coaching team.
But Whitehaven have announced today that their grading verdict will be announced as incomplete.
The club has issued a statement which says: “Ahead of tomorrow’s IMG grading announcement the club can announce that our grading will come back as grading incomplete.
“This has come on the back of information from the club being submitted a couple of days later than the initial deadline.
“The club, however, would like to thank the RFL for their work alongside us in this matter and confirm we will be granted a score in the coming weeks which will go alongside the other scores throughout the game.
“Once the club have been made aware of the score we will update all with an interest at the club at the earliest opportunity.”
New coach Anthony Murray and his assistant Neil Frazer have bought into the policy of recruiting locally for the return to 2025 and there have been a succession of signings from the Community game.
So far Connor Holliday is the only squad member announced as re-signing but two former Whitehaven players in Jordan Burns and Jordan Thomson are returning.
Both Barrow and Workington Town are waiting for news on their gradings, hoping for an improvement on the previous figures.
