Barrow were denied a home victory over Notts County last night by a stoppage time penalty.
David McGoldrick earned his side a 1-1 draw when he converted the spot kick in the third minute of added time.
McGoldrick had been fouled by Chris Stokes and just as he had done last season he scored from the penalty spot.
The south Cumbrians hadn’t beaten County in the Football League since 1966, and they had led from the seventh minute.
Rory Feely had scored the opener when he knocked home Ben Jackson’s corner, a welcome goal as the Bluebirds had failed to score in five of their previous six League Two games.
Barrow had other opportunities to add to their lead but efforts from Kian Spence and Ged Garner were well dealt with by County keeper Alex Bass.
Barrow keeper Wyll Stanway did not have a save to make until the 41st minute when he got down well to stop a low shot from the lively Nick Tsaroulla.
But County came more into it after the break and Stanway excelled with a double save in the 77th minute to keep out efforts from Josh Martin and Javani Brown.
Barrow fans who left before added time felt their side had managed a first win in four games – but McGoldrick’s penalty changed all that.
